Antiparos Island, Greece
Antiparos is a small Greek Island in the heart of the Cycladic Cluster, 3 nautical miles from Paros Island.
It is a quiet land, full of whitewashed houses, small churches, golden sands and crystal clear waters. History has recorded several important events on Antiparos Island.
Relics of a Neolithic Settlement (4,000 BC) and the oldest Cycladic marble idol called "the obese lady of Saliagou" have been found on the island.
Antiparos is also famous for its exquisite cave which is located on Agios Ioannis Hill and is the only vertical cave in Europe.
It has a depth of 85 meters and possesses unique human-shaped stalagmites and impressive stalactite formations.
Another attraction of Antiparos is the Venetian castle that is a rare architectural creation and the set where the awarded movie "Mandalena" was filmed. Recently, an Archaic alter was found on the isle of Despotiko.
